Welcome to Activate Upper Palmetto

Welcome to the official Activate Upper Palmetto website. Activate Upper Palmetto (formerly known as York County Shrinkdown) is a FREE year-round healthy living awareness program that targets youth and adult obesity and their related diseases. This program encourages participants to accumulate at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity five days per week.
Track your progress and that of York and Chester Counties right here! This website will provide every participant with a confidential login so that they can privately monitor their weight loss and physical activity during the program. Visit this website often for the latest stats on Upper Palmetto's progress to lose weight and get physically active!
Weekly Healthy Living Updates! Participants will be able to view health related articles and recipes by visiting the Healthy Living Guide. Participants will also receive a Weekly Newsletter via the email address provided at registration. *If you are a participant and have not been receiving emails, please use the Contact Us feature to let us know.
Attend Monthly Health Talks! Are you baffled by food labels? Learn how to navigate each department in the supermarket to find the healthiest and most delicious choices.
March's Health Talk, "Navigating the Supermarket", will be held on 3/20/08 at the York County Library Main Branch from 7pm-8pm. Speakers will be Elizabeth Cochrane, R.D.-Clinical Nutrition Manager with Piedmont Hospital and Susan Denton, R.D.
Weekly Weigh-ins! Participants will weigh-in every Friday at any Upper Palmetto YMCA for the first 6 weeks, and then monthly for the rest of the year. If you can't make a weigh-in, don't worry about it. Just come in the next time and remember to keep up the good work!
